Lion tracking permit is only issued by Uganda Wildlife authority. The permits are available for foreign non-residents, foreign resident and for East African citizens. All you need to do is to contact UWA to find out if there is availability of Lion tracking permit. This helps you get a positionsince this activity is done in a group but with a limited number. Once the permits are available, you will be requested to pay the booking fee, the date when you wish to do the activity plus sending the photos of your passport to ascertain the person booking. Best time for lion tracking in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Lion Tracking in Queen Elizabeth National Park is carried out throughout the year. Though, it is best carried out during dry season that is June to February. During this period there is low rainfall and the vegetation will be thin which helps to have a clear view of the lions. It is only carried out in Kisenyi plains and it can be done in two shifts.
